What is love and What is Faith?

Faith creates love, And love creates peace, I was told as a kid But nothing about atrocities And that faith should not be named! Fighting, we fought a thousand lives, Churches are burnt, temples destroyed He ate the meat my mother denied And I am convinced, His God does not love mine. Kill him, throw ink on his face, For he ate the meat, my faith denies Now I shall laugh when he cries, And laugh loud when he dies. Faith creates no love And that love creates no peace His religion I am taught to hate, And he commits 'Jihad' In the name of his faith   In front of my newborn nephews and nieces We should be blamed and shamed Like that man from Bishara, they should not be gamed, They should not be taught to hate But silently told that faith should not be named!

Turning 25 - A page from my personal diary!

Exactly a week to go and I will blow the 25 th candle off my birthday cake. Like every year I started my count down three months ago but as the day is approaching I feel numb. I want to run away, sit on the beach and look back at the 25 years of my life (There is so much to think). And some of my darling friends have ensured that I do exactly that. It is not the usual feeling; I did not feel any different turning 18 and getting the legal right to vote or completing my teens and turning 20. Today I fear that the excuse of being a child at heart will soon expire and become invalid. I will have to talk responsibly, act and walk my age. Recently I met two of my new born nieces and there was the bell ring that the next generation is here and you are not the youngest in the family anymore. There are so many small things that I learnt sitting next to Aata (Grand dad) during his evening cup of tea and sleeping next to Aita (Grand Mom) as a kid. Traditions and culture were handed...

Chris Martin hugged me!

‘Look up the stars, look how they shine for you’ and I exactly felt like the night sky with the full moon on 2 nd July was indeed glowing for me. One should indeed be careful for what they wish. Rhonda Byrne was not totally wrong in her book ‘The Secret’ where she said that if you want something really bad, the whole universe conspires for you to get it. When I woke up on 2nd July 2015, a blah Thursday morning - my Instagram, Facebook and Twitter newsfeed was full of statuses and tags making me realize that while I was not doing anything much at home the night before; Cris Martin was playing at Summer House CafĂ©. I went to office not feeling very great and realizing what I missed. I was listening to his slow number ‘Fix You’ and was trying to cheer myself up. I remembered my college days and all my emotions with ColdPlay. It was only few days ago that I was discussing with a friend how music is one thing that acts like a perfect time machine. I remember so many different se...

Moromor Aata, Aita!

The weather in Delhi is making me nostalgic, reminding me of my childhood school days and the way I spent my carefree time post school. I feel like getting my hands on one book and this yearning takes me back time. I am another one of those lucky children having   grown and spent the better part of my formative days with my grandparents. A month back when I visited home, I came back with myriads of emotion. A week in Guwahati is short, to say the least. As I was busy dropping in at every relatives house to exchange a greeting, I made it to my maternal grandmother at 4pm in the afternoon. Not the perfect time to visit her. Although I have moved on with my fast paced life, Aita (grandmother in Assamese) still sticks to her lunch at 1-1.30pm and afternoon nap from 2pm to 5pm. For her everything is the same like it was 20 years back, she does not have a smart phone to be busy in whatsapp, not a computer or an email mailbox, she is still particular about not missing the evenin...
